In 2011, Northeastern received 43,000 undergraduate applications for the fall semester, a new record and the largest for any private University. It has 9 colleges and schools: College of Arts, Media and Design, College of Business Administration, College of Computer Information and Science, College of Engineering, Bouvé College of Health Sciences, College of Professional Studies, College of Science, College of Social Science and Humanities, School of Law. NU provides more than 70 undergraduate majors.

NU has more than 14,000 full-time undergraduate students, 4,000 part-time undergraduates, 2,700 full-time graduate students, more than 1,400 part-time graduate. Northeastern’s cooperative education (co-op) programme was one of the first of its kind in the world. All degree programmes must take five years, except arts and sciences because the students need to practise and work in the corporations for one year. NU’s technology MBA programme was ranked first from “Computer World” survey. It is proud of its high-tech MBA programme is “the first MBA option for the high-tech industry managers in New England region”, the main feature of the programme is to combine marketing, finance, team work and institute restructuring.

NU has close cooperations with local system and software, financial services, healthcare, biotechnology companies and other fields. Some of them are in Fortune 500, but some of them are just new start-up companies. In addition, NU is the base of “technology entrepreneur centre”, it organises “business plan competition,” and other games with prize money of US$ 60,000 each year, inviting well-known businessmen for lectures, organising seminars for students and entrepreneurs. With these plenty of academic activities not only boarden the students’ horizons, but also cultivate many high-tech entrepreneurs which is reputable in the Boston area and just behind the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  4. Graduate requirements: language requirement needs higher than the undergraduate, depends on different disciplines. Over GPA 3.0, some disciplines need over 3.3.
